Belo Horizonte: Brazil came out on top in the World Cup qualifier clash with Argentina in Belo Horizonte on Thursday. Argentina team lost the game 3-0 as their star-studded midfield and attack failed abysmally.

Selecao’s attacking trio of Neymar, Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus caused a lot of problems for the Argentina’s defence. The score was opened by Liverpool talisman Coutinho and member of Barcelona’s famous trident ‘MSN’, Neymar Jr. doubled Brazil’s lead in the injury time of first half.

It was Neymar’s 50th international goal which further cements his position as a legend in making for Brazil. Brazil football legends Pele, Ronaldo and Roamrio are the only ones ahead of him on the international goal scoring charts for the country.

The game was finally settled with Paulinho’s strike which made it 3-0 for the hosts in 58th minute.

Tite, Brazil coach, named a strong squad for this important game and the whole team justified their selection with a superb win over their rivals. The much anticipated fixture, famous as Superclasico of the international football, turned out to be a one sided affair as Brazil contained the threat of Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain throughout the game.

This defeat makes it four matches without a win for Edgardo Bauza’s Argentina as their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup 2018 still hangs in the balance. Brazil, on the other hand, has five wins in five matches and they are comfortably looking to book a ticket to the football’s biggest showdown.

Argentina will play Colombia on Tuesday while Brazil hosts Peru in their next fixture of the World Cup qualifiers.
