New Delhi: Wriddhiman Saha has been ruled out of the third Test match in the India-England series due to a knee injury. In his place, after eight long years, Parthiv Patel will hold the mantle against England.
Parthiv Patel, who last played his Test against Sri Lanka in 2008 and also played his ODI against Sri Lanka in 2012, will be stepping back to the international Test arena after eight years. The Gujarat Ranji player is an experienced player with 20 Test matches under his name.
“As a precautionary measure, Saha has been advised rest and will not play in the next Test match of the series. Parthiv Patel will replace Saha in the Indian team for the third Test,” BCCI said in a statement.
Parthiv Patel plays for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
