Praveen Mahajan, on Friday, is unanimously elected as the president of the All India Tennis Association (AITA).

In a special general meeting, Mahajan was elected unopposed as the AITA chief till the year 2016-2020.

Earlier in December last year, she replaced Anil Khanna becoming the first ever woman president of AITA until the election was conducted.

Sports Ministry had asked Khanna to quit, stating that his election was against the code of conduct protocols that bars anyone from re-election after serving two consecutive terms in the office.

Senior bureaucrat Mahajan is a former IRS officer. She was also the first woman chief of the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).
