Forty eight hours back, they had cried foul for getting nothing despite winning the T20 Blind World Cup back to back for India.

After NewsX, highlighted their plight and persuaded the matter relentlessly, the Sports Ministry swung into action. Every one of the 18-member cricket team received Rs 5 lakh each from the Ministry.

Announcing this at his residence Sports Minister Vijay Goel said, “The blind cricketers were the most deserving and it was just a token money. We will also take up the issue of their recognition and affiliation so that they are not deprived of anything.”

The Sports Minister also announced a series of measures and incentives for promoting rural sports in India.

“The idea is to promote Gramin Khel. We will organise a mega sports festival where we will have indigenous sports like athletics, wrestling, kho-kho, kabaddi, etc. Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar will also participate in it,” the minister said.
