Zinedine Zidane’s side suffered their second La Liga loss of the season on Wednesday as they were stunned 2-1 by Valencia at Mestalla stadium in Valencia, Spain.

La Liga strugglers Valencia were off and running in the 4th minute of the game when Simone Zaza struck a stunning half volley inside the far post assisted by Barcelona’s loanee Munir.

Despite dominating the initial stages of the game, the Whites faced another blow through the hands of Salvador González’s men in the 9th minute when Fabian Orellana scored his first goal for Valencia after nutmegging Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas with ease.

Real Madrid star striker Cristiano Ronaldo brought one back for the visitors in the 44th minute when Marcelo floated a superb cross which was met by the Portuguese’s sublime finish as he headed  the ball into the back of the net.

For the kings of comeback, it was all too late as Valencia emerged victorious after successfully road- blocking the league leaders from producing a late equalizer in the second half for which the side is quite famous for.

“The truth is we lost the game in 10 minutes. We started well with the ball, we had chances but we made two errors and they scored two goals. We had 80 minutes to rescue the game and tried but we lacked many things today,” Zidane told reporters.

With a game in hand, Real Madrid are now only a point ahead of Luis Enrique’s Barcelona in the La Liga standings.
