Dr. Aijaz Ashai, the physio of the Nepal cricket team is out on bail after being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a female masseuse in a Northern Ireland hotel, reports said.

The contract of the doctor has been terminated by the Cricket Association of Nepal following the incident.

The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday in the same hotel where the Nepal team is staying for the World T20 Qualifier. According to the reports, Ashai even offered the woman 10 pound tip as an apology for his act.

Ashai was taken to the court on Wednesday, even though his lawyer denied all charges against him. If Ashai is proven guilty, he is likely to face six months in jail or a £5000 fine. The matter has been adjourned to August 12.

Ashai was scheduled to travel to Dublin on Thursday along with his team members for their remaining group matches ahead of visiting Scotland.

Ashai who apart from India has worked with the Mumbai team in the Ranji Trophy in the past and also worked at the NCA in Bangalore had joined the Nepal team in Dharamsala in June to prepare for the World T20 Qualifier.

In the mean while, NewsX has accessed the Dublin Police report which was presented in the court which said:

“Ashai told the masseuse he was suffering in the groin area. He then grabbed her hands and forced them there. He later apologized and offered £10 tip to masseuse.”
