Google on Monday celebrated 140th anniversary of world’s oldest tennis tournament Wimbledon with a Doodle.

The Doodle has a green background to showcase the grass court on which the grand slam is held – and two animated tennis rackets playing a game.

The search giant also featured a few earlier concepts, including one that depicts the rain that so often disrupts Wimbledon proceedings.

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and has been taking place at All England Club in South West London since 1877.

The tournament is hugely popular and draws over 500,000 spectators every year.

The tournament is set to kick off today at the All England Club. In men’s singles, Roger Federer will be starting out as favourite in a quest to clinh his 8th title, while the women’s event might see emergence of a new winner in the absence of stalwarts like Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.
