Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal for Manchester United helping Red Devils win their second pre-season game 2-1 against Real Salt Lake. The Belgian forward netted in the 37th minute, beating the keeper with a well controlled shot grabbed from a slick Henrikh Mkhitariyan pass.
Real Salt Lake put on a close fight in the first half, with Luis Silva producing the lead for the American club in the 25th minute. Just two minutes later, Mkhitariyan slid in the equaliser making it 1-1 for United.
The Red Devils maintained their lead in the second half to make it 2 out of 2 in US. Overall it wasn’t a very good day for Jose Mourinho who would have trusted his side to be more dominant upfront and keep it tight at the back. Antonio Valencia got sent off after an unnecessary foul, allowing more space for the Real Salt lake attackers.
The Europa League winners could have brought in much more into the game and grabbed a few more goals with better finishing. Next up for United are home rivals Manchester City in Houston on Wednesday.
