In a yet another case of social media moral policing, cricketer Irfan Pathan was ridiculed on Facebook after he uploaded a picture of him with his wife, her half face covered. The Baroda cricketer was targeted by social media fanatics who trolled him for sharing a pic of his wife which according to them was ‘Un-islamic’ and objectionable.
The all-rounder uploaded the picture captioning it ‘This girl is trouble #love #wifey’
He was targeted by some irked fans on Facebook who argued that the Pathan should not have exposed her wife openly on social media, some even pointed out how It was highly ‘Un-islamic’ of Baig to use nail-polish and how she should have rather applied mehndi on her hands.
Some reminded Pathan, that he is a Muslim first and it’s a Pathan’s duty to ensure his wife isn’t exposed to the public.
It’s not the first time a cricketer has been scrutinized for posting pictures with their better halves. Mohammad Shami faced wrath of some absurd fans on social media a few months back when he shared a picture of him with his wife.
Pathan, who represents Gujarat Lions in the IPL, didn’t expect such bashing from trolls, but the cricketer was not spared.
