Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde praised Jose Mourinho and his men for their challenging performance against his team in the Pre-season clash at the FedEx Field on Wedensday. The Catalan boss said he would not like to be drawn against Manchester United in the Champions League.

The game saw a balanced battle between the two sides with Neymar emerging as the best player with a 32nd minute goal which eventually saw Barcelona sweep the game away.

Both the teams had their share of chances and the Europa League winners did enough for the Barcelona manager to see them as potential title contenders in the Champions League.

“I view Manchester United as a tough, serious team, a team that, perhaps have not been in a good moment, but they were champions of the Europa League [last season] and are back in the Champions League this year.

“They’re a strong team, contenders for all competitions; I think they will be a difficult team to beat in the Premier League and in Europe. I wouldn’t like to play them in the Champions League.” said Valverede who took charge at the Camp-Nou this year.

Both Barcelona and Manchester United have glorious past history between them; the fans on both sides will be excited to see the old rivals lock horns once again in the biggest competition of European football.
