After he embarked his arrival in the national capital on Thursday, basketball ace Kevin Durant took center stage on the red carpet as he attended the B-town gala enveloped by Bollywood A-listers including Abhishek Bachchan, who hosted the event by giving the Golden State Warrior forward a much anticipated reception.
While addressing the media Abhishek said, “Basketball is my first love in sports and it’s a sports I have always played through my life”.
“And I’ve been a NBA fan since 1982, when my father took me to a game in Los Angeles,” he further said.
The 41-year-old actor, who is a LA Lakers fanatic also made a witty remark and said, “Although Kevin is not from the right team; I’m a LA Lakers fan!”
Bachchan was full of praise for Durant on what he has achieved since joining forces with Steph Curry and leading the Warriors in this year’s NBA Finals against Lebron James’s spearheaded Cleveland Cavaliers.
“It’s an honour to have him here, you know to be the current MVP and the champion of the NBA,” he added.
“He’s a great player, a player who deserves huge admiration, and I welcome him with open heart and hope he enjoys his trip here,” Junior Bachchan concluded.
Along with Abhishek hosting the event, Bollywood fraternity including the likes of Ranvjijay Singha, Tanmay Bhatt from All India Bakchod (AIB) and sporting stars like Virender Sehwag, tennis legend Vijay Amritraj, Indian basketball player Satnam Singh Bhamara were other attendees who graced the red carpet.
