Spanish football giants Atletico Madrid’s 29-player squad will travel to Munich on Monday for the friendly Audi Cup tournament. Atletico are to participate in the pre-season two-day tournament for the first time at the Allianz Arena in Germany, where they will face Italian side Napoli on Tuesday, while Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich will play against English Premier League (EPL) side Liverpool in the semi-finals on the same day, reports Efe.
Atletico played the first pre-season friendly in Mexico against Toluca on July 26, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
Argentine coach Diego Pablo Simeone called the same players who travelled to Mexico, in addition to five players from the reserve team — namely, Amath Ndiaye Diedhiou, Juan Moreno, Roberto Olabe, Andres Felipe Solano and Alberto Rodriguez Baro ‘Tachi’.
The German tour will be missed by Hector Hernandez, Kevin Gameiro, who continues his recovery from a surgery he underwent a month ago, and Saul Ñiguez, who joined the pre-season training on Friday.
