Manchester United has secured the signing of tough-tackling midfielder Nemanja Matic from Chelsea for a fee reported to be around 40 million euros on a 3 year contract. While sitting with his new recruit in a press conference, Jose Mourinho said: “Nemanja is a Manchester United player and a Jose Mourinho player. He represents everything we want in a footballer; loyalty, consistency, ambition, team player.”

“I would like to thank him for his desire to join us because without that, it would be impossible to have him here. I am sure our players and supporters will love him. A big welcome to our new number 31.”

Nemanja Matic re-joined Chelsea from Portuguese outfit Benfica for 25 million euros in the summer of 2014. He signed for the Blues while Mourinho was at the helm of the club.

Nemanja Matic during the press conference said: “I am delighted to have joined Manchester United. To work with Jose Mourinho once again was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”

“I have enjoyed my time at Chelsea and would like to thank the club and the fans for their support.”

The Serbian was quite content after completing his transfer and added, “I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates and to start training with them.

“This is a very exciting time for the club and I am looking forward to playing my part in creating more history for this great club.”

The arrival of 28-year-old midfielder further bolsters Manchester United in the middle of the park and he will be compete for places with Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick, Ander Herrara and Marouane Fellaini.

The Serbian’s combative style of play, ball winning capabilities and holding of position can prove to be a big boon for last year’s world-record signing Paul Pogba, who might unleash his full potential and get back to his devastating footballing skills which he showed at Juventus.

The Red Devils have already secured the highly-rated defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and Romelu Lukaku from Everton in a combined total of 110 million euros.
