When the nation was busy hailing and applauding the Indian women’s Cricket team over their unmatched efforts against England in the final match of ICC Women’s World Cup trophy, columnist Shobha De — who has always been making headlines with her controversial remarks — tweeted an ‘unasked’ suggestion for Mithali Raj and company, while taking a jibe at Indian men’s Cricket team.
Wishing ‘well’ for future projects to Mithali Raj and company, Shobha asked them not to get ‘spoiled’ like their men counterparts.
Taking to her twitter handle, Shobha De on August 1 said, “Oh Lord! Please protect our amazing women cricketers from crass commercialisation and greed that has ruined most of our Boys in Blue.”
Why should the women not benefit from their stardom?

And as expected, the veteran columnist was slammed by the Twitterattis:
Never was a writer of substance, just sleazy commercial crap. Dunno who read it. Maybe her friends

And let them be as non-commercial like our #media and journos like Shobhaa De who write never for money but for the love of literature
