A reinvigorated West Ham United will travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in their Premier League season opener on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho lost last season’s top scorer in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and ended a decade-long affiliation with Wayne Rooney but has significantly strengthened his squad with Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic.
Manchester United will begin their 2017-18 Premier League campaign without left-backs Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo who remain sidelined due to long-term injuries. Ashley Young will be another absentee who is supposed to be available by September.
There are no suspensions in the United squad, hence Mourinho will field his strongest line-up against West Ham on Sunday.
All the new acquisitions — Lukaku, Lindelof and Matic — are set to feature in the upcoming fixture.
West Ham United
After parting ways with their chief creator Dimitri Payet, the Hammers have secured winger Marko Arnautovic and former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.
Also, they lured fullback Pablo Zabaleta to the London Stadium on a Bosman transfer while signing Manchester City’s Joe Hart on a season-long loan.
Slaven Bilic has revamped his squad significantly and will be aiming for big things this season.
Chicarito will be the centre of attention in the upcoming game as he returns to the Premier League after two years, and will make his debut against his former employers.
The new signings will be in the playing squad but a string of players — Michail Antonio, Aaron Cresswell, Manuel Lanzini, Cheikhou Kouyate and Andy Carroll — will miss the game due to injuries.
