Real Madrid had a disappointing outing on Saturday when the La Liga champions had to settle with a single point after a 1-1 draw against Levante. Things could have been better and Real Madrid knew that.
“Maybe we did lack a little spark but gave everything, we do need Cristiano to score goals but maybe not necessarily a number 9. We will continue as it is”, said a not so happy Theo Hernandez after the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been spearheading Real’s attack for years now and his presence in the squad makes the Los Blancos a lethal unit. The talismanic forward was recently ban for 5 games in the La Liga after shoving the referee in the Spanish Copa final against Barcelona.
Real Madrid players were adamant about the fact that Cristiano was being missed in the clash and goals could have flowed if he was present near the opponent nets. Ronaldo is currently serving his ban and has one more game to go before he could be back with the team.
The European champions will take on Real Sociedad on September 17th once again without Ronaldo. Zidane’s men have managed just one victory from their opening three games of the season and have certainly felt their marquee forward’s absence.
Zidane started with Asensio, Marcelo and Lucas in the game against Levante with Karim Benzema upfront. Bale replaced the Frenchman after he limped off with an injury after 28 minutes into the game.
Ronaldo’s return would be a much anticipated one after Los Blancos exposed attacking inefficiency in the games without him.
