Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan will be missing first three ODIs against Australia to attend to his ailing wife. BCCI won’t be announcing his replacement in the squad as it already has 16 players.
“Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan has requested to be released from the team for the first three ODIs of the Paytm Australia tour of India, 2017 to attend to his wife, who is unwell. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has decided not to name any replacement for Dhawan in Indian Cricket Team,” a statement by the board said.
Dhawan had also missed last few games of Sri Lanka tour due to her mother’s ill health.
“Shikhar Dhawan would be leaving for India tomorrow i.e. September 3rd to see his ailing mother. Dhawan’s mother is stable and is recovering well at the moment,” BCCI had then said.
The hosts will be taking on Australia in first three ODIs on September 17 (Chennai), 21 (Kolkata) and 24 (Indore).
