Tottenham’s spearhead Harry Kane rallied his troops to a 3-2 victory against West Ham United in a Premier League fixture played at London Stadium. Hotspurs’ defence contained the late comeback of the home side and made sure they took away all the three points from the game. Tottenham started brilliantly in the London derby as Harry Kane broke the deadlock in the 34th minute of the game with a neat header beyond Hammers goalkeeper Joe Hart. The England striker was again on the scoresheet after he tapped in an easy ball into the net which ricocheted from Hart’s gloves by Dele Alli’s strike.

After the break, it was almost over for the hosts when Christian Eriksen made it 3-0 for Tottenham by burying a loose ball past West Ham goalkeeper.

West Ham bounced back in 65th minute after their summer recruit Javier Hernandez headed home a poacher’s effort. Shortly after, the home side gained further momentum in the game with the dismissal of Tottenham full back Serge Aurier.

After an array of attempts, C Kouyate capitalised on a shot and made it 3-2 for the hosts but his side submitted to a defeat.

It was the 4th defeat for West Ham in 6 Premier League fixtures played so far while Tottenham has marched on with their 3rd victory of the campaign, which sees them lying on 3rd spot at the league table. Manchester City and Manchester United jointly sit at the top of the table with 13 points each from 5 games played.

After his match deciding goal, Christian Eriksen became the top scoring Danish footballer with 33 goals, who has ever played in Premier League.

While free-scoring Harry Kane justified his burgeoning reputation in his side’s derbies by scoring a brace and taking his goal tally to 21 in London derbies.
