Team India vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who was declared Man of the Match in the 5 ODI against Australia where India marked a thumping victory by 7 wickets and claimed the series by 4-1, addressed a press conference and said that this is a solid team and the future is bright. Rohit Sharma in the 5th ODI, which was played at Nagpur, scored his 14th ODI. 

Lauding the bowlers, Rohit Sharma further said, the way bowlers performed throughout the series is commendable. It is not easy to restrict Australia to 240 and on a pitch like that. While Rohit bagged ‘Man of the Match’ award,  Hardik Pandya was declared as ‘Man of the Series’.

All Hardik Pandya showed off both his batting and bowling skills as the all rounder scored 222 runs and picked up 6 wickets to claim ‘Man of the Series’ title. 

Speaking about all rounder Pandya’s performance, skipper Virat Kohli, who though himself struggled to perform and score massive runs, termed Pandya the ‘biggest asset’ for the team. 

Team India captain Virat Kohli also praised bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah for their outstanding performances in the 5 match tournament. After winning the series against Australia, India has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in ODI rankings after winning.

In the 5th ODI, India restricted Australia to just 242 and won the match by 7 wickets played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Australian skipper Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bat at the solid, bouncy pitch of Nagpur. Opener David Warner and Aaron Finch (32) gave a strong push but Hardik Pandya showed the magic from the ball and broke the partnership, sending back Finch to pavilion.

Team India which had already claimed the series in order finish like the champions, openers took nothing for granted and gave a steady start to their side. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane put a stand of 124 runs for the first wicket and gave a solid opening for the rest of the squad to build upon.
