Four shuttlers reach second round of Swiss Open

Top Indian male shuttler Kidambi Srikanth alongwith three others reached the second round of $120,000 Swiss Grand Prix Gold badminton championship.

World No. 5 Srikanth, who hogged the limelight last year after winning the China Super Series Premier, defeated France’s Lucas Corvee 21-18 21-10 in the opening round. He will next take on Germany’s Dieter Domke.

Among others, Dutch Open winner Ajay Jayaram defeated fifth seed Hong Kong’s Hu Yun 21-7 21-7 in a lop-sided match and will clash with Belgium’s Yuhan Tan next.

Anand Pawar, seeded 16th, saw off Switzerland’s Joel Koenig 21-11 21-13 to set up a fight with Daren Liew of Malaysia, while B. Sai Praneeth deafeated Croatia’s Luka Zdenjak 21-9 21-9.
