Pakistan clinched their maiden ICC Champions Trophy title on Sunday beating India by 180 runs in final at The Oval.

Riding on Fakhar Zaman’s maiden hundred and Azhar Ali and Mohammed Hafeez’s half tons, Pakistan put up a huge score of 338 runs in their 50 overs.

Chasing the mammoth total, India looked totally out of sorts and continued to lose the wickets at regular intervals before getting bundled out for a mere 158 in the 30th over of the match.

Fakhar Zaman (114) was adjudged Man of the Match for his match-winning knock.

As it happened:

09:26 PM IST| Bumrah goes for 1. And it’s all over! Pakistan beat India by 180 runs to win the title. Brilliant performance from Pakistan in all three departments of the game. It was clearly not India’s day today.

09:21 PM IST| 30 Overs bowled, India 158/9  JJ Bumrah 1 (6) B Kumar 1(8)

09:18 PM IST| OUT! Ashwin is out for 1. Pakistan just one wicket away from a well-deserved title.

09:08 PM IST| OUT! Pandya is run-out! India’s last hope also fizzling out.

8:55 PM IST| 25 Overs bowled, India 137/6 RA Jadeja 9 (12) HH Pandya 62 (38)

Pandya striking the ball well, but looks like it’s too late to change the course of the match.

8:42 PM IST| 20 Overs bowled, India 89/6 HH Pandya 24 (18) RA Jadeja 2 (2)

India need 250 runs more from the remaining 30 overs. Pandya and Jadeja in the middle trying to steady the innings. They have a mountain to climb.

8:30 PM IST| OUT! Jadhav departs after edging the ball, Sarfaraz makes no mistake and takes the catch.

KM Jadhav c †Sarfraz Ahmed b Shadab Khan 9 (13b 2×4 0x6) SR: 69.23

8:26 PM IST|  15 Overs bowled, India 62/5 KM Jadhav 5 (5) HH Pandya 3 (4)

The match is turning out to be totally one-sided with half the Indian side back in pavilion. India showing no fightback and seems to be crumbling under pressure. Jadhav and Pandya’s first aim would be to keep their wicket intact and keep the scoreboard ticking.

8:16 PM IST|Dhoni falls to Hasan Ali. Half the side is back to the pavilion. India hopes fazing out.

MS Dhoni c Imad Wasim b Hasan Ali 4

8:12 PM IST| Wicket! Yuvraj is out for 22! Shahdab gets the wicket.

7:59 PM IST|  10 Overs bowled, India 47/3 Yuvraj Singh 18 (25) MS Dhoni 1(1)

Immense pressure building up on India. Amir has broken the back of Indian top order. Can MS Dhoni and Yuvraj take India to safe shores? Would be interesting to watch as they both have the ability to turn the things around.

7:53 PM IST| OUT! Another one bites the dust! Dhawan becomes the latest victim of Amir.

S Dhawan c †Sarfraz Ahmed b Mohammad Amir 21 (22b 4×4 0x6) SR: 95.45

07:35 PM IST | 5 Overs bowled, India 16/2 Shikhar Dhawan 10(11), Yuvraj Singh 1(7)

Not a brilliant start for India. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s early wickets have put tremendous pressure on the Indian side. They will have to be extremely careful and take care of the run rate as well. A lot will depend on how Shikhar Dhawans performs in the match.

07:23 PM IST| WICKET! Amir on fire, picks up another wicket! Virat Kohli is out for 5. India in a spot of bother.

07:11 PM IST | Welcome back after the innings break! Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have walked in to bat. India begin the run chase.

06:42 PM IST | 50 Overs bowledPakistan 338/4: Hafeez 57(37) Imad Wasim 25(21)

A tremendous performance from Pakistani batsmen in the Champions Trophy finale proved a tough target for Indian bowlers. Pakistan at the loss of 4 wickets set a gigantic total of 339 runs against India. A lot now depends on how the opening pair of the Indian innings will shape this chase. Especially, first 15 overs extremely crucial for India.

Pak crosses 300 mark in the 46th over and trying to reach 350 and the way they are going at the moment, India is finding it hard to stop the run flow.

06:05 PM IST | 45 Overs bowled, Pakistan 294/4: Hafeez 32(20) Imad Wasim 11(6)

Pakistan is trying its every effort to set a gigantic total against India. Both Hafeez and Wasim are playing big shots and hitting boundaries in every over. The score is already close to 300, it will be a tough challenge for the Indian batsmen given that its the Champions Trophy finale.

06:05 PM IST | 42.3 Overs bowled, Pakistan 267/4: Jadhav gives India another breakthrough, Babar Azam goes for 46. Azam was looking for another big shot but Yuvraj makes no mistake and takes an easy catch.

05:57 PM IST | 40 Overs bowled, Pakistan 247/3: Babar Azam 43(48) Hafeez 0(0)

Another important wicket in the 40th over will hurt Pakistan in going for a very big score here. However, Pakistan has utilised every opportunity to take on the Indian bowlers and have continued with a good combination of running between the wickets and boundaries.

05:52 PM IST  | 39.4 Overs bowled, Pakistan 247/3: Not a great innings by Shoaib Malik just 12 off 16 was an easy dismissal for team India. Malik attempted for a big shot on that bouncer by Bhuvneshwar but couldn’t connect well.

05:32 PM IST | 35 Overs bowled, Pakistan 209/2: Babar Azam 18(29) Shoaib Malik 2(5)

Pakistan looking in its full form as far its batting side is considered. After Zaman’s loss who was going all out for a blitz was finally sent back to the pavilion. But the team still looks in comfort position and pressure at all. On the other end, India bowlers are still struggling and finding it hard to take wickets.

05:23 PM IST | 33.1 Overs bowled: India gets it needed breakthrough, danger man Fakhar Zaman goes back for 114.

05:21 PM IST | 33 Overs bowled: 200 comes up for Pakistan, India looks desperate for another wicket.

05:05 PM IST | 30.4 Overs, Pakistan 183/1: Maiden hundred for Fakhar Zaman and what a day and occasion to achieve it.

05:13 PM IST |30 Over bowled, Pakistan 179/1: Babar Azam 8(19) Fakhar Zaman 96 (91)

Pakistan is once again riding on Zaman and Babar after Ali’s dismissal and it doesn’t seem that they are under any pressure. The new man in Azam also looks stable and facing Indian spin attack quite comfortably. Runs are coming pretty easily with regular boundaries on top. India desperate for another wicket here.

04:47 PM IST | 25 Overs bowled, Pakistan 134/1: Babar Azam 1(2) Fakhar Zaman 61 (78)

Aggressive Indian attack finally was able to break the opening partnership that was looking dangerous at one time. A quick throw from Bumrah proved to be fatal for Azhar Ali who was aiming for a big score sent back to the pavilion. But Pakistan is still looking good and boundaries are coming pretty easily.

04:40 PM IST | 22.6 Overs, Pak 128/1: Finally the moment that India was waiting for,  Azhar Ali run out for 59 off 71. A confusion there between Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman resulted in Ali’s wicket. The opening partnership has finally been nailed.

04:32 PM IST | 20 Overs bowled, Pakistan 114/0. Azhar Ali 51*(60), Fakhar Zaman 50*(61)

Pakistan without any loss of wicket has crossed the 100 run mark as the opening pair is giving no chance to Indian bowlers for any breakthrough. No foolish shots have been played and it seems that Pakistan is aiming for a big score now.

04:00 PM IST | 15 Overs bowled, Pakistan 79/0. Azhar Ali 35*(43), Fakhar Zaman 31*(42)

Both Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali are totally set now. Team Virat is desperately looking for a wicket here as the partnership is getting stronger. Not many big shots display from the Pakistani side but the opening pair is holding the ground.

03: 45 PM IST | 10 0vers bowled, Pakistan 54/0. Azhar Ali 29*(32), Fakhar Zaman 16*(29)

Virat Kohli makes the change as expected, Jasprit Bumrah has been replaced by Ravichandran Ashwin in the 7th over. India cannot take the risk of Bumrah’s lackluster in the big final. He is an important bowler Kohli needs in the death overs of the game.

Bhuvneshwar, on the other hand, is keeping things very tight. Two maidens so far for him in the big final of Champions Trophy 2017

For Pakistan, Azhar Ali looks in a good touch. He will have to stay in the middle as Zaman looks a little edgy. India needs a wicket now. Pakistan is scoring at a very healthy rate.

03: 27 PM IST | Three boundaries of Jasprit Bumrah’s over. Pakistan looks to up the ante. Virat Kohli must think about resting Bumrah as he looks out of place. Pakistan 36/0 in six overs.

03: 23 PM IST| 5 overs bowled, Pakistan 27/0. Fakhar Zaman 12*, Azhar Ali 7*

Five overs are bowled and Pakistan is up to a cautious start with a lucky save for Fakhar Zaman as he was caught behind the wicket until it was a no ball by Bumrah. While Bhuvneshwar has been economical, Bumrah seems to be struggling with line and length — no ball followed by three wide balls.

Pakistan is looking to rotate strikes early on, a positive sign for their fans.

03: 14 PM IST | Wicket-Almost! Fakhar Zaman gets an outside edge of an outswinger delivery by Jasprit Bumrah and Indians celebrate early breakthrough, Dhoni completes the catch. The replay shows Bumrah had crossed a line. No BallHow lucky was  Fakhar Zaman.

The big question, how much will it hurt India.

03: 08 PM IST | Bhuvneshwar Kumar begins with a tight first over. Most of those deliveries were at the good length, maiden over for Bhuvi. Captain Virat Kohli has decided to join Bhuvneshwar with Jasprit Bumrah. No surprises there. Bumrah follows with a very good first over.

03: 02 PM IST | The Game Begins! Pakistan openers Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman are in the middle to start the proceedings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar starts the bowling attack for India.

02: 58 PM IST | Both India and Pakistan teams lining up for the National Anthem. The Stadium is full, looks like a sea of blue to me.

02: 52 PM IST | Fair Warning!

Both the teams have met once this year in Champions Trophy with India winning the game against Pakistan with a huge margin of 124 runs.

Defending champions India heads into the big final with an astounding track record of 8-2 over arch-rivals Pakistan in the ICC events conducted globally over the years.

In all ICC tournaments including the ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy and the World Twenty20, the sub-continental rivals have met 15 times with India emerging victorious on 12 occasions. Pakistan has won twice while one match ended in a tie.

The high octane match between India and Pakistan will be a treat for the cricketing fans touted to be an interesting combat between Indian skippers Virat Kohli’s batting unit versus Sarfraz Ahmed’s upbeat bowlers.

02: 25 PM IST | Pakistan So Far!

Pakistan has managed to bounce back in this tournament, defeating South Africa and Sri Lanka in the group stages and England in the semi-finals to book a berth in the final.

With Pakistan’s front-line pacer Mohammad Amir declared fit to play in the final after sitting out the previous match, he alongside new ball bowler Junaid Khan will be the key against India to provide their side with early breakthroughs.

Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed will also look to use his team’s bowling strength to do the damage against an in-form Indian batting line-up.

The spin duo of Imad Wasim and Mohammad Hafeez alongside medium-pacer Rumman Raees — who made his debut in the semi-finals — will look to provide depth and variation to the Pakistan bowling line-up.

The batting department for Pakistan under the likes of opener Azhar Ali and Fakhar Zaman followed by Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez will look to flourish against India having got to good starts in the previous matches but failing to build lethal partnerships.

02: 15 PM IST | India So Far!

India has looked a very balanced side with both their batting and bowling departments having managed to click throughout the tournament.

India opener Shikhar Dhawan is the tournament’s leading run scorer with 317 runs in four matches and will look to continue his momentum against Pakistan.

In-form Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have also helped their side look capable enough of chasing any target.

The bowling department for India under the likes of pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have looked solid bowling economically while providing clinical breakthroughs.

Captain Kohli will also look to use off-break spinner Kedar Jadhav — who took two vital wickets in his previous match against Bangladesh — alongside Hardik Pandya to deceive the Pakistan batsmen.
