Even though Lillestrøm’s are facing the wraith of football fanatics condemning the cloddish and wicked trophy celebration engineered by Norwegian footballer Aleksander Melgalvis Andreassen, the player still thinks there’s no shame in stripping naked and hiding his modesty with the King’s Trophy they clinched last Sunday. The final of the Norwegian Football Cup saw Lillestrøm overcoming Sarpsborg 08 in an intense 3-2 encounter as they celebrated their triumphant cup success the other day on Monday which was headlined by Aleksander Andreassen by placing his genitals right inside the ‘famous’ trophy.

His shocking celebrations was globally criticised by the football fraternity starting from the from the Norwegian FA’s communications director Yngve Haavik who said: “Winning the Cup is a big thing and obviously it should be celebrated”. “But it is very possible to do so in a manner that shows the cup a bit more respect. I am sure it wasn’t intentional from Melgalvis but it came out the wrong way regardless. I think Melgalvis and Lillestrøm agree with that,” Haavik added. Despite the heavy criticism, the Norwegian footballer was able to say a lot more than what many would’ve expected in his defence for celebrating in such ridiculous manner. “[Winning the cup] was something I never thought I would experience,” Aleksander told Dagbladet.

Aleksander admitted that he got a bit carried away with the celebration. “I’ve come a long way to play in a cup final. Of course I can understand that [people thought] it was a bit over the top,” he added. The 28-year old Norwegian footballer then added that his celebration is not something that will regret. “I’ll admit that and apologise, but it is not something I regret,” he said in a statement.
