— Jeakson Singh belongs to Manipur and left his hometown in Thoubal district for Chandigarh at the tender age of 11 to learn the nuances of football.

— Jeakson spent formative years of his life at the Chandigarh Football Academy (CFA) His brother was instrumental in sending him to CFA for high-level coaching. Life has not been easy for the footballer as his father suffered a stroke in 2015 and had to leave his job at Manipur Police. His mother then took the responsibility of the family and sold vegetables to make ends meet. 

— Jeakson Singh switched to Minerva Punjab FC Academy in Chandigarh to prepare himself for the U-17 I-League and U-17 World Cup, a move that was about to change the course of his career. 

— The defensive midfielder’s World Cup hopes had come crashing when his CFA teammates Amarjit and Sanjeev got selected for AIFF trials, but he missed out. The youngster did not give up and became a crucial part of Minerva Punjab which went on to win the AIFF U15 and U16 Youth League titles. Jeakson scored an impressive goal for Minerva Punjab during a match against Ozone FC in 2017 U16 Youth I-League. His performance caught attention of footballer Abhishek Yadav who invited him and several other teammates to play a match against the U-17 World Cup team. 

— Jeakson’s side registered a 1-0 victory over World-Cup bound team and was called up to join Norton’s boys along with three other team members from Minerva. The dreams do come true if you give them your all, don’t they?
