CD does not deny our charges against Amar Singh: BJP
Mon-Aug 04, 2008
New Delhi / Press Trust of India
The BJP on Monday said that the CD released by UPA ministers and Samajwadi Party leaders did not deny the charges levelled by it against SP leader Amar Singh's involvement in the cash-for-vote episode on the eve of the trust vote in Lok Sabha.
"Today it has become clear that all these corroborative evidences (presented by BJP on Sunday) have not been commented upon (at a press conference by union ministers Lalu Prasad, Ramvilas Paswan and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav). They have not been denied because they cannot be denied. It is a contemporaneous evidence," BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley said.
He termed the latest sting CD released by Prasad, Paswan along with Yadav and Amar Singh, as "a matter of shame for the country and for the Indian government."
“It looked like a cabinet committee on forgery and fabrication had lent its shoulders to it (the fake sting),” Jaitley said.
The BJP leader presented some more "facts" to prove the involvement of Amar Singh.
"The son of Sanjiv Saxena (an alleged aide of Singh who handed over the cash to the MPs) has stated in his admission form to a college that his father has mentioned 27, Lodhi Estate (residence of Amar Singh) as his office address," Jaitley said.
This shows that Sanjiv Saxena was known to Amar Singh.
Singh had, however, stated in a press conference that though Saxena had worked for him earlier, he had left service on July 21.
"The phone conversation from Saxena's mobile to Amar Singh proves the latter's involvement in the cash-for-vote," Jaitley alleged.
Commenting on the purported sting CD distributed by former BJP leader Uma Bharati, which shows Saxena visiting Jaitley's house, the BJP General Secretary said "I have never met him (Saxena)."
He also took a dig at Bharati, saying "Uma's fake CD became Amar Singh's documentary."
Expressing faith in the parliamentary committee probing the cash-for vote episode, Jaitley expressed the hope that all the issues brought up by BJP would be looked into by it.
