An all-party delegation, including External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister Shivraj Patil, will visit Jammu on Saturday to find a solution to the impasse over land for the Amarnath shrine management. The state administration has also invited protesters in Jammu for talks.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra on Wednesday formed a panel for talks with the Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti (SASS), a conglomerate of more than 30 groups leading an agitation here for more than a month.
The panel members on Thursday held discussions with the governor on the issue, sources in Raj Bhavan said.
Subsequently, a letter inviting the Samiti for talks was sent to its convenor Leela Karan Sharma.
Vohra later told a group of reporters that the all-party delegation, including Mukherjee and Patil, will arrive in Jammu Saturday.
He said there was no "economic blockade” of the Kashmir Valley and the traffic movement on all highways connecting the valley with Jammu region was normal.
He said the Army Northern Command's helicopters would mount an aerial vigil of the highways and railway tracks.
Jammu continued to witness protests on Thursday despite curfew but the protests remained peaceful.
The state government's decision in May this year to allot about 40 hectares of forest land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) for pilgrim facilities led to violent protests in the valley. As the government withdrew the order July 1, there have been protests in Jammu region, threatening to divide the border state on communal lines.

I think the best way out would be to lease the land to a body of eminent persons from Kashmir Valley and Jammu. This lease would be for a period of 2 months per year just before and during the duration of the pilgrimage. The body would ensure convenient temporary facilities for the pilgrims and after the period of the pilgrimage, the land would revert to the J & K government until the following year. This way, the concept of sale of land would be avoided while providing facilities for the pilgrims, which is the whole purpose for which the land is required.
First I would like thank NewsX for giving proper coverage to the protests in Jammu & Kashmir impartially showing real natioanlistic attitude. On the other hand there are so called prime English News channels who give serious coverage if there will be minor headache to a separatist in Kashmir and are mum on the protests in Jammu. What a shame on those channels not different than those separatists.
Kashmir has become a cancer/ menace for whole of India. It is eating India like pissu’s. India consists of population of about 110 crores and Kashmir of about 0.5 crores. But whole of India, i.e. Govt of India, thinkers, politicians, national and international channels/ media are using significant time only on appeasing Kashmiri’s separatists in addition to incurring huge losses on providing subsidies to Kashmiri’s including subsidies on Haj arrangements and essential services and goods. Such subsidies are even not provided to the poorest of the poor in rest of India. There is no international airport in Jammu and some of the important cities which form part of the India’s economic backbone and tourists, but it coming up soon in Kashmir with no economic benefits. There is no rail project in Himachal Pradesh and other places in India where the terrain and topography is very much feasible for such project projects and could have been constructed at least cost/ benefit ratio, but it is constructed in J&K to facilitate Kashmiri’s at a huge cost even if the terrain and topography is difficult. If the author is not at a mistaken, cost benefit ratio of the project might be very high for this project and the return of the same is doubtful because of the less economics, high maintenance and huge security costs than it would have been for Himachal Pradesh or elsewhere. But Govt of India prefers it to be constructed to provide facilities to Kashmiri’s otherwise Himachal Pradesh is not a less Heaven than so called Kashmir.
Author is not Jealous of the facilities provided to thankless Kashmiri separatist groups but is surprised to see the attitude of the Kashmiri fundamentalists/ separatists along with those people who are opposing the land to Hindu pilgrims, who are sacrificing lot for Kashmiri’s and never uttering a single word against the facilities to Kashmiri’s particularly on Haj. Because of this problem, Govt is lacking attention towards other sections of the society in other parts of India such as North east, etc. How long Govt will appease these separatist groups who have always blackmailed India. There was no economic blockade in Kashmir, but Hurriyat and PDP made a propaganda of it including some of the English media channels. This is shameful that we are getting down to these groups and letting other parts of India to suffer tremendously. Let God prevail good sense to these people in Kashmir so as to restore normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir. JAI BHARAT.
