World champion Roberto Cammarelle added Olympic gold to his resume, as he stopped China's Zhang Zhilei in the Olympic super-heavyweight final on Sunday.

Zhang, a bronze medalist at the World Championships last year, looked totally out of his depth from the first bell as Cammarelle crunched hooks into his jaw.

The Chinese did at least prove he could take a punch, but despite showing lots of lateral head movement he was regularly caught.

It seemed only a matter of time before the big hulk came crashing down and Cammarelle dropped him with a left hook in the fourth round, after which the referee mercifully brought an end to Zhang's punishment.

Giant Briton David Price, who was stopped by hard hitting Cammarrelle in the semi-final second round, and Ukraine's Vyacheslav Glazkov won bronze medals.

Bakhyt Sarsekbayev of Kazakhstan dominated Cuba's Carlos Banteaux 18-9 to win Olympic welterweight boxing gold in Beijing on Sunday.

Banteaux's defeat meant that Cuba failed to win a single boxing gold at these Games despite qualifying eight fighters for semi-finals.

They finished with four silver and four bronze, the first time they have failed to win a gold since 1968 - other than 1984 and 1988 when they didn't compete.

Banteaux finished the first round 1-0 up but Sarsekbayev took control there on, scoring at will with his crunching right hooks to the body and straight lefts right now the muzzle.

Banteaux became ragged in the third as he tried to rescue the situation, allowing Sarsekbayev to pick him off. Still it was an entertaining fight and Banteaux's attacking, come-forward style contributed to that.

Chinese Muslim Hanati Silamu, an ethnic Kazakh from the restive Xinjiang province, and South Korea's Kim Jung Joo won the bronze medals.

Russia's Alexey Tishchenko claimed a second straight Olympic gold medal as he beat France's Daouda Sow 11-9 to the lightweight title.

Tishchenko was the overwhelming favourite coming into this final, as he won the featherweight division four years ago in Athens and was also a World Championship finalist in Chicago a year ago.

Tishchenko's gold meant Russia became the first country to win two gold medals in the Beijing boxing tournament, following Rakhim Chakhkiev's heavyweight win on Saturday - although China later matched the feat.

Ugas and tough Armenian Hrachik Javakhyan won the bronze medals.
