Mild quake in western Maharastra

An earthquake of moderate intensity was felt early Wednesday morning in the Satara region of Western Maharashtra.
The quake, whose epicentre was 13.6 km from Koyna Dam at a latitude of 17.9 degrees North and longitude of 73.9 degrees East, measured 4.8 on the Richter scale, the Met department said.
There has been no damage to the dam, which is filled to its capacity, sources said.
There were also no reports of any loss of life or damage to property in the tremor which was felt at 3.17 am (IST) and lasted for 30 seconds, they added.
