Poor plot kills Kidnap

MOVIE REVIEW: KIDNAP
Rating: * *

Kidnap
is a story that could have kept a viewer on the edge of the seat had it been given a good plot. Instead, it blows up in the face as a silly childhood revenge, lots of reformation and a puerile happy ending. There are moments when you feel an adrenaline rush only to have it dampened by the following nothings.

The beginning keeps you almost hooked with the Imran-Dutt chase. But soon you realise that the story aint getting you nowhere. The movie is imbued with poetic clues but those too fail in adding the quintessential mystery to this thriller. The viewer keeps yo-yoing between a constant sense of aimlessness and almost futile chasing.

The ending or the enmity between Dutt and Khan could have made for the turning point in the film but that on the contrary adds the final touch to a faltu movie experience.

As for the cast, Sanjay Dutt is as endearing as ever. Imran Khan should choose his roles carefully to avoid getting into the rut of looks -decieving -character. As for Minnisha Lamba, if her intent was to show her well sculpted body, then kudos because that's all she manages to do through the film.
