In another infiltration bid from across the border, a group of five militants tried to intrude into the country on Sunday, an attempt foiled by the army.

Five militants entered the Indian territory from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Chajjar forward post of Mankote belt in Poonch district this afternoon and they fled back as army challenged them, official sources said.

As the ultras reached between LoC and border fencing, troops of 2/8 Grenadiers guarding the LoC laid a cordon and launched an operation to track them down. During the exchange of fire between the two sides, the militants fled back to Pakistan side.

There was no casualty on Indian side.

Of the six foiled infiltration bids, 3 Hizb ul Mujahideen (HM) militants were killed in Peerbadashwar in Rajouri district on Saturday, which was preceded by the killing of a militant at the same area on October 15.
