Top seed and local favourite Saina Nehwal stormed into the third round of the girl's singles event of the World Junior badminton tournament on Wednesday.

Saina, who got a bye in the first round, defeated Turkey's Ozge Bayrak 21-11 21-8 in just 21 minutes.

The Beijing Olympics quarter-finalist Indian will now take on Ying Suet Tse of Hong Kong, who prevailed over Egypt's Sara Mostafa Tiseer 21-4 21-10.

Apart from Saina, no other Indian girl could progress to the third round with both P C Thulasi and Prajakta Sawant crashing out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, RMV Gurusaidutt is the lone Indian to progress to the third round of the boy's singles following the ouster of compatriots Aditya Prakash, Pratik Patel and H S Prannoy in the second round.

Aditya was shown the door by top seed Huan Gao of China 20-22 12-21, while Pratik went down 6-21 17-21 to Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei and Prannoy lost to Malaysia'a Kam Chung Kuan 15-21 16-21.

In the mixed doubles, Indian duo of Sai Praneeth B and Pradnya Gadre sailed into the third round, defeating Kiwi pair of James Eunson and Michelle Chan 21-15 21-12.

Sai and Pradnya will next face Korean pair of Young Woo Choi and Kyung Eun Jung, who beat Gary Fox and Langley Alexandra 21-15 21-7.

The other Indian combination in the fray, Pranav Chopra and Prajakta Sawant, however, bowed out in the first round, losing to Malaysia's Ryan Agung Saputra and Aurien Hudiono 16-21 17-21.
