Golmaal shouldn't have returned

MOVIE REVIEW: Golmaal Returns
RATING: * *
Golmaal should never have returned, at least not in its puerile and almost frustrating sequel avatar. The stellar cast fails to provide any cushion to this almost abysmal attempt at recreating the comical magic of Golmaal, the original.
An overly suspicious Saas-Bahu-soap-opera-addict-Ekta Kapoor-lover-wife, Kareena Kapoor can’t get herself to trust her husband (Ajay Devgan). A murder drives her husband to the center of suspicion. To exonerate himself, the husband has to prove that he played knight in shining armour to a damsel in distress (Celina Jaitley) on the night of the murder. Helping him in his endeavour are his dumb brother-in-law, Tusshar Kapoor and chaalu subordinate, Shreyas Talpade.
As the confusion builds up and humour dims, the viewer is left with an itch to have the movie end as soon as possible. Saawariya spoofs along with others fail to add any flavour to an otherwise bland film.
Kareena Kapoor is terrible as the dumb bimbette wife. Ajay Devgan too is wasted as are Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Vrajesh Hirji. Tusshar Kapoor is good but needs to watch out for towing the thin line between acting and over-acting. Amrita Arora is as good as not present in the film.
