An escapee from prison who had been wanted for murder for the previous 15 years was apprehended by Goa Crime Branch Police in West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district.
According to the authorities, prisoner was discovered working at a hotel in Goa on Friday after changing his date of birth to coincide with the date of his jail break. Authorities stated that the man named as Jackson Dadel, a resident of Bhatlem, was one of the two inmates being detained for the April 23, 2005, murder of Godwin DSliva, a resident of Altinho, at Caranzalem.
Both of them were detained and placed to judicial detention at the Margao jail after Panaji Town Police Station launched a complaint against them under IPC sections 449, 302, and 34.
Jackson Dadel and another defendant, Rudolph Gomes, were both found guilty of killing Godwin DSilva by the Additional Sessions Court in Panaji on September 16, 2007.
Jackson Dadel and Rudolph Gomes, together with 12 other defendants, forced open the jail gates of the Margao judicial lock-up, attacked the jail guards, imprisoned them there, and then fled before a sentence could be imposed.
Based on this, a complaint was filed at the Margao Police Station under IPS sections 224, 323, and 342 IPC, and the police have been looking for the accused ever since.
