Landslides occurred in several locations in Nepal’s Achham District on Saturday, leaving at least 13 people dead and 10 missing.


According to Deputy Chief District Officer Dipesh Rijal, landslides have caused “at least 13 dead, 10 missing, and 10 rescued from various regions of Achham District in far-western Nepal.” Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has directed the dispatch of helicopters for search and rescue efforts following the disaster.

Floods and landslides have occurred in Nepal as a result of the constant rains.


Last Saturday’s flood and avalanche in Nepal’s Bangabagad region claimed at least two lives and left 11 people missing.


The Lasku and Mahakali Rivers flooded as a result of the constant rain, washing away homes and two bridges in the process.


Each monsoon season, Nepal has been reporting a high number of fatalities linked to landslides and flooding.
