In the Goalpara area of Assam, the Assam Police detained a second suspect on Thursday who had ties to both Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

In this instance, Assam Police have now made three arrests. VV Abdus Suahan has been taken into custody in the Bongaigaon district’s Jogighopa police station area, according to Rakesh Reddy, the Goalpara district’s superintendent of police.

Reddy continued, “He is extremely intimately related with two Imams who were earlier imprisoned.”

In the aftermath of the arrest of two Imams from the Goalpara area earlier in the day, Assam police had access to some crucial information regarding Al-Qaeda’s strategy and were briefed about the potential for some other arrests in the near future.

Six Bangladeshi terrorists infiltrated Assam a few years ago, according to a top Assam police officer, and they targeted residents of Char regions (the sandbars or small sandy islands) and other isolated locations where the Muslim minority predominates.

According to intelligence obtained by the Assam police, Bangladeshi terrorists affiliated with AQIS/ABT had recruited and brainwashed a large number of persons in the state.
