Assam Police have gained access to crucial data and deciphered the operations and strategies of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) after dismantling five modules of the Bangladesh-based Islamic terrorist group in the state.
According to a top member of Assam Police, AQIS/ABT has major plans for Assam and other areas of the North Eastern region, and the Assam police have figured out what they are.
He said that police discovered that the arrested AQIS/ABT members were utilizing specialized smart mobile applications for communication throughout their investigation and questioning.
Senior Assam officer stated that “each module of AQIS/ABT had utilised specific end-to-end encrypted chat applications for communication.”
In connection with Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), Assam police detained Jahura Khatun on August 7 in the Bilasipara neighbourhood of the Dhubri district. They also found two mobile phones in her hands.
Jahura Khatun is the wife of fugitive AQIS/ABT member Abu Tallah, according to Hiren Nath, ADGP (Special Branch) of the Assam police, who spoke to ANI.
“According to our intelligence, Abu Tallah is a citizen of Bangladesh and he married Jahura Khatun, who is from the Bilasipara neighbourhood in the Dhubri district. Jahura Khatun completed her education up till Class 8, yet she was proficient with the unique mobile application. They had communicated through a unique cellphone app, “explained Hiren Nath.
Six Bangladeshi nationals who are AQIS/ABT members entered Assam in 2016–17, according to the Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. One of them was apprehended by Assam police, while the other five are still at large.
However, authorities claim that the communication method is quite sophisticated. There are some installed applications. Some individuals from Bangladesh have arrived, loaded the app, engaged in conversation, and then removed the app.
Since March of this year, Assam police have detained at least 31 people, including a Bangladeshi citizen, and dismantled five AQIS/ABT modules in the state.
