Following extensive raids across multiple locations in three states, the National Investigation Agency arrested the prime suspect involved in the Rameshwaram cafe blast case in Bengaluru today. The explosion, which occurred on March 1, resulted in injuries to numerous customers and hotel staff members, along with significant damage to the renowned cafe.
Muzammil Shareef, providing logistic support to two identified accused, was apprehended by NIA teams during raids across 18 locations – 12 in Karnataka, 5 in Tamil Nadu, and one in Uttar Pradesh. NIA, which assumed control of the case on March 3, had previously identified the primary suspect, Mussavir Shazeeb Hussain, responsible for the blast, along with another conspirator, Abdul Matheen Taha, who is currently evading authorities has been missing since 2020.

Mussavir Shazeeb Hussain is accused of leaving an IED-laden bag in the cafe. Earlier, the NIA sought public assistance in identifying him, with the Bengaluru police’s Central Crime Branch aiding the investigation. Raids were conducted at the suspects’ residences, along with others, resulting in the seizure of digital devices and cash. On March 13, an alleged accomplice was detained by the NIA. The Rameshwaram Cafe resumed operations on March 9 with heightened security measures, including the installation of metal detectors and handheld screening for patrons’ safety.
