According to local media, Argentina Police detained a guy on Thursday night for allegedly brandishing a pistol in front of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, the nation’s vice president and former president, in Buenos Aires.
According to the police record, suspected attacker is Fernando Andres Sabag Montiel, a 35-year-old Brazilian citizen. As seen in the viral video, accused reportedly approached the vice president while aiming a gun inches from her head but the gun did not discharge. It is considered that the vice president’s life is not in risk.
According to the police report, the perpetrator’s weapon was discovered “a few metres from the site.”
The Judicial Interventions brigade had also arrived in the area, according to the police. The authorities are conducting an investigation, therefore the attacker’s intentions and the specifics of the crime are now unknown.
Sputnik said that Montiel allegedly has a history of carrying illegal weapons and was detained by the police in 2021 for possessing a knife.

After a brawl broke out in front of Kirchner’s home as a prosecutor asked for a 12-year jail term for her who was accused with a corruption case on Monday, the Argentine security minister declared that they would extend Kirchner’s security to her home as well.
People sang political slogans and hopped up and down in raucous support on one side while holding banners that called her a “thief” and banging pots and pans.
The Fernandez de Kirchner supporters were dispersed by police using tear gas and batons, which her backers criticised as an excessive display of violence. A member of the coalition’s ruling Frente de Todos was temporarily taken into custody.
This comes after the chief prosecutor in the case requested that Fernandez de Kirchner receive a lifetime ban from holding public office in addition to a 12-year prison term.
In the so-called “Causa Vialidad,” which centres on the granting of public works contracts in the Patagonian province of Santa Cruz, where she and her late husband, former President Nestor Kirchner, established their political careers, Fernandez de Kirchner is one of 13 persons accused.
51 contracts were given to businesses controlled by Lazaro Baez, a businessman who was a friend and associate of the Kirchners, over a 12-year period beginning in the early 2000s, according to the evidence.
Before Nestor Kirchner assumed government in 2003, Baez, who was found guilty of money laundering last year, transitioned from working as a bank employee to starting a construction firm.
Kirchner is accused of “aggravated fraudulent administration” and “illicit association made worse by her role as leader.”
