Bengaluru Blast Suspect Caught on CCTV Near Rameshwaram Cafe with 'Bomb Bag'

An FIR filed by the supervisor of the cafe alleges a premeditated plan to execute a terrorist act with the intent of causing harm to the public. The complaint details how the suspect was observed leaving the bag at the blast site before the explosion occurred.

A fresh development in the investigation of the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast has emerged with the release of new CCTV footage showing the suspected individual, purportedly carrying an Intensive Explosive Device (IED), approaching the cafe. The blast, which occurred on Friday, left 10 people injured and has since prompted a thorough investigation by law enforcement authorities.

According to police sources, the blast was orchestrated using a timer to trigger the IED bomb, marking it as a deliberate act under anti-terror scrutiny. In response, police have mobilized 7–8 teams to track down the suspect, who remains at large following the explosion.

The National Security Guard (NSG) team has also arrived at the blast site to conduct a comprehensive examination as part of the ongoing investigation. The suspect, described as a young man aged between 28 to 30 years old, was spotted on CCTV placing the bag suspected to contain the explosive device near a tree adjacent to the cafe before fleeing the scene.

An FIR filed by the supervisor of the cafe highlights the severity of the incident, citing the intention to cause chaos and casualties through a planned terrorist act. The investigation has led to the recovery of a timer and other components of the IED at the blast site in the Whitefield area.

Authorities have gathered crucial evidence from CCTV footage, indicating that the suspect may have arrived at the scene via a BMTC bus. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has assured swift action, emphasizing the deployment of multiple teams to expedite the arrest of the perpetrator.

In response to the incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has convened a meeting of senior police officials to ensure a thorough investigation. He has urged political parties to refrain from politicizing the issue and emphasized the need for cooperation in addressing the matter.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has taken over the investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Explosive Substances Act. Additionally, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is collaborating with Bengaluru Police to probe the incident, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

The opposition BJP has called for a detailed inquiry into the incident, criticizing the government’s handling of the matter and highlighting the importance of maintaining public safety.

Meanwhile, the owners of Rameshwaram Cafe have expressed their cooperation with the authorities in the investigation, expressing deep regret over the unfortunate incident at their Brookefield branch.

As the investigation unfolds, the release of the CCTV footage sheds light on the sequence of events leading up to the blast, reinforcing the urgency to apprehend the suspect and ensure justice for the victims and their families.
