The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), stepping up its campaign against its estranged ally, the Janata Dal (United), and its new partner, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda will travel the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal area of Bihar next month.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the Seemanchal area on his two-day visit to Bihar next month, his first since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar abandoned the BJP to establish a grand alliance government with the backing of the RJD, Congress, and others.

The BJP’s choice of the Seemanchal area as the beginning point for an all-out assault against the strong RJD-JD(U)-Congress-Left alliance only demonstrates the party’s desire to play the nationalist card to the fullest during the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

The Congress won their lone Lok Sabha seat from Kishanganj in the 2019 elections.

The Nadda-Shah combo is anticipated to target Nitish and his government by spreading misinformation about a suspected terror module operating in the Muslim-majority area.

Hyderabad MP Asduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen won five seats in Seemanchal in the 2020 assembly election. Four of them, however, eventually joined RJD.

The Congress now has eight of the region’s 24 assembly seats, the Rashtriya Janata Dal three, and the CPI (ML one, for a total of 12.

Araria, Madhepura, Saharsa, Supaul, Purnea, Kishanganj, and Katihar are among the seven districts that make up the area. The region’s Muslim population is 47%.
