“I was at a point when I was like, I’m walking away from this business,” said the ‘Black Panther’ director.
“I didn’t know if I could make another movie period [or] another ‘Black Panther’ movie, because it hurt a lot. I was like, ‘Man, how could I open myself up to feeling like this again?” added Coogler.
The director had spent weeks revisiting footage of him with Chadwick, whom he saw as a prominent creative collaborator and the king of “Black Panther.”
The director started to rekindle his love for the fictional nation of Wakanda as he thought back on his own interactions with the actor.
“I was poring over a lot of conversations that we had, towards what I realised was the end of his life,” Coogler continued. “I decided that it made more sense to keep going.”
The upcoming Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” with Ryan Coogler returning as director, follows people dealing with the passing of Boseman’s King T’Challa, including those portrayed by returning actors Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, and Winston Duke.
The second trailer of the new and upcoming Marvel’s Black Panther was released on Monday. The die-hard Marvel fans are hyped for the movie and just can’t wait till it hits the theatres. The movie is scheduled to be released on November 11, 2022.
