In the late hours of Saturday, a cloudburst occurred in Raipur block of Uttarakhand state’s Dehradun district.
In Sarkhet village, Raipur block, cloudburst was observed by villagers around 2.45 am on Saturday. After receiving information, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel hurried to the scene. According to SDRF, “all the individuals trapped in the village were rescued while some sought refuge at a resort nearby.”
Acharya Bipin Joshi, the temple’s founder, remarked “Tamasa river, which flows close to Dehradun’s well-known Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple, has assumed a fearsome shape as a result of the nonstop heavy rains that have been falling since yesterday. The pool has been harmed as a result of the loss of communication between Tapkeshwar Mahadev and the Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Yoga Temple. By God’s mercy, no one has perished or lost anything.”
Flash floods were also caused by Saturday’s heavy rains at the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district.
The upward flow of pilgrims at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine was temporarily halted due to the severe rains and flash floods.
“Heavy rains have halted pilgrims from Katra from travelling higher to the Vaishno Devi shrine. Pilgrims arriving from below are given preference. The situation is being watched. Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have already been deployed. There have been no documented negative events, “the Board of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
The journey to the shrine has, however, been continued at this time.
A cloudburst that hit Amarnath’s holy cave location earlier in July caused a significant water discharge in the “Nallah,” which lies next to the holy cave. As a result, the road to Amarnath was damaged, and the yatra was put on hold for a while.
