Following the “Hera Pheri” actor’s recent remark during an election rally in Gujarat, CPI (M) leader Md Salim has filed a police case against bollywood actor Paresh Rawal. He charged that the veteran actor made the comment in order to incite riots and ruin harmony between Bengali and other groups.

During his speech, Paresh Rawal said “Gas cylinders are now pricey, but this will change. People will be hired as well. But what if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start congregating near you, like in Delhi? What are you going to do with gas cylinders? Prepare fish for the Bengalis?”

This remark offended many people. The actor was accused of hurting Bengali people’s feelings with his statements.

A Twitter user commented, “We are saddened and upset by the recent words of @SirPareshRawal.”

Another person said, “So Paresh Rawal publicly criticises Bengalis for eating fish. Won’t the CM at the very least file a protest? Won’t we?”

In the middle of the uproar, the “OMG: Oh My God!” star turned to Twitter to clarify and apologise.

In response to a user’s request for “clarification” actor wrote, “of course the fish is not the issue AS GUJARATIS DO COOK AND EAT FISH . BUT LET ME CLARIFY BY BENGALI I MEANT ILLEGAL BANGLADESHI N ROHINGYA. BUT STILL IF I HAVE HURT YOUR FEELINGS AND SENTIMENTS I DO APOLOGISE.” According to Rawal, with Bengalis he meant illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas.

Meanwhile, “Sharmaji Namkeen” actor is set to appear alongside Kartik Aaryan in the upcoming action-drama film “Shehzada.”
