A police officer in Firozabad city of Uttar Pradesh has been criticising the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Firozabad over claims that police officers are fed poorly. The policeman, Manoj Kumar, was seen protesting and sobbing in a video that has gone popular on social media before being taken away by the police.

“Even animals cannot consume the food that is being offered to humans; you can see it on my plate. Nevertheless, it is supplied to us. The senior superintendent of police and the DCP are pulling a con. These individuals serve subpar meals to police officers, “added Kumar.

Despite many promises from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to enhance allowances granted to police officers by 30% in order to ensure a more nutrient-rich meal for them, Kumar also claimed that the food quality was subpar.

However, according to the mess manager, Kumar would often make unwarranted complaints about the quality of the meal and argue that the food items, such as lentils, chapatti, and rice, were uncooked, as reported to a daily newspaper.

Kumar stated, “Captain sir does not want to listen to any of my problems, and the RI (Reserve Inspector) claims that I would be suspended immediately. I have spoken with DGP sir about the issue several times, but no resolution has been offered to date.”

However, In response to the footage, the Ferozabad police also intervened, “As complained for the bad quality of the food provided by the mess, there is a probe ordered. The complainant has 15 allegations including indiscipline and failing to report for duty.”

Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav also took a jibe at the UP government. “Amid all the extravagant noise of the Amrit Mahotsav, is there anyone to listen to the cry of this policeman over bad quality food; Why is there a hunger-fest rather than Amrit Mahotsav.”
