Cop killed during  vehicle check in Jharkhand day after Haryana DSP killing

Sandhya Topno, a female sub-inspector, was killed when a pickup van mowed her down during vehicle inspection in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Sandhya Topno, a female sub-inspector, was crushed to death by a pickup van driver during vehicle checking in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Wednesday, July 20. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in the Tupudana neighbourhood.

Surendra Singh, a Haryana police officer of DSP rank, was mowed down by a mining mafia in Nuh the day before.

The accused, who managed to flee the scene after killing the cop, was later apprehended by police using CCTV footage, and the vehicle was seized.

“Sandhya Topno, a female sub-inspector, was killed during a vehicle check last night. She was assigned as the officer in charge of Tupudana OP. The accused was apprehended, and a vehicle was seized “Ranchi SSP Kaushal Kumar stated.

“Police had received information about cattle smugglers’ movements and were therefore checking vehicles passing through the checkpoint when the incident occurred,” said SSP Kaushal Kumar.

On Tuesday, DSP Surendra Singh was assassinated by a mining mafia near Nuh’s Pachgaon. Surendra Singh, who was investigating illegal mining, was killed on the spot after being hit by a truck. His body was discovered in a dumpster.
