Dev Patel is a popular name in the film industry. The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ actor has made a name for himself with his versatile performances, striking screen presence and humble nature. He is now in the news for a sweet reason.

Dev Patel recently attended the SXSW world premiere of ‘Monkey Man’, where he received a standing ovation from the audience. This touched him to such an extent that he teared up during his speech. A video of the incident has gone viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Dev Patel rose to fame with his portrayal of Jamal Malik in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which won Academy Awards in multiple categories. He then found a foothold in the industry with his work in films such as ‘Lion’, ‘Hotel Mumbai’, and ‘The Green Knight’. Additionally, he appeared on the TV series ‘The Newsroom’. 

‘Monkey Man’ is billed as a game-changer for him as it marks his directorial debut. He also stars in it and serves as the producer. The film features Dev Patel as Kid, an ordinary young man who endures beatings from seasoned fighters for financial gains but eventually decides to settle scores with them. The narrative explores the themes of resilience and revenge.

‘Monkey Man’ stars Sobhita Dhulipala in a key role and marks her Hollywood debut. The cast  includes Pitobash, Sharito Copley, Makrand Deshpande, and Vipin Sharma. ‘Monkey Man’ is set to hit screens in the US on April 5. 

Post this, Dev Patel will be seen in ‘Rabbit Trap’. The psychological-thriller is directed by Bryn Chainey and centres on the challenges faced by a couple after shifting to an isolated cabin in Wales.
