The heads of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will meet separately with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 21 to inform him of the Agnipath recruiting initiative.
According to government sources, the military chiefs will visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi individually tomorrow and would likely inform him of the Agnipath plan. The Agnipath initiative was inaugurated last week, and in response to criticisms, the federal government has announced many assistance measures in the last few days to soothe concerns over the new armed forces recruiting system.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remarked on June 14 during the unveiling of the Agnipath project in the presence of the three service chiefs that it was a revolutionary effort that would bring a young profile to the military.
On June 14, the project was also approved by the Union Cabinet. The young people chosen for this programme will be known as Agniveers.
The administration described the initiative as a “transformative change of recruiting policy” for the armed services and a one-of-a-kind chance for young people to serve their country and contribute to nation-building.
The programme permits patriotic and motivated young people to serve in the military services for four years.
According to the government, the initiative offers an appealing financial package, will result in a more young profile for the armed services and would allow Agniveers to train in the top institutions and improve their skills and certifications.
