A Kerala resident travelling to Delhi who had arrived in the port city from Zimbabwe through Doha on Sunday was found in possession of drugs worth around 60 crore at the Cochin International Airport.


The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) reported in a statement that about 30 kg of the metha quinol medication, estimated to be valued at over 60 crores, had been taken from Muralidharan Nair, a resident of Palakkad.

According to CIAL’s statement, the substance was purportedly secreted in a hidden compartment in Nair’s backpack and was found by the company’s security division during an examination utilising a cutting-edge “3D MRI” scanning machine.


The traveller, Muraleedharan Nair of Palakkad, who arrived from Zimbabwe through Doha, was detained by the airport’s security division with a total of 30 kg of suspected sedative hypnotic narcotic methaqualone. The man was getting set to board a flight for New Delhi when his luggage was being examined.


According to the report, the passenger was turned over to the drug enforcement agency, and the substances were delivered to a federal lab for analysis.
