Gandhinagar court convicts self-styled godman Asaram in rape case registered in 2013

Rape accused Asaram was convicted in a rape case from 2001 that was registered in 2013. In the 2013 case, a Surat girl accused Asaram of rape. In the case, 68 people provided statements. There were seven people charged in total, including Asaram. Originally, there were eight accused, but one of them became a government witness.

Asaram was virtually present for the hearing. He is currently imprisoned in Jodhpur and has been condemned to life in prison by a Jodhpur court.

Asaram was accused of rape by a Surat girl in 2013, while Narayan Sai was accused of rape by her younger sister. Narayan Sai was condemned to life in jail, whilst Asaram received his decision today, and he was proven guilty.

Apart from Asaram, his wife Lakshmi, daughter Bharati, and four female followers Dhruvben, Nirmala, Jassi, and Meera were charged in this case. All of them were found not guilty.
According to the police, they have substantial evidence against Asaram in this case.
