Sourav Ganguly, the head of the Indian Board of Control for Cricket, has not resigned (BCCI).

After a cryptic tweet on Wednesday sparked speculation about a future political debut, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly sought to dispel the rumours and define his next endeavour.

“The message was merely a deliberate attempt. It is not in the cards for me to resign as President of the BCCI. Although, I’m planning to build a commercial educational app as my own business ” stated Ganguly.

Earlier on Wednesday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah denied media rumours that Ganguly had resigned as President of India’s governing cricket body.

“The reports circulating regarding Mr Sourav Ganguly resigning as BCCI President are false. We are approaching some exciting times in terms of media rights, and my colleagues and I are entirely focused on the future opportunity and defending the interests of Indian cricket,” stated BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

Rumors of Ganguly resigning as president came after the former Indian captain claimed in a Twitter post that he was “planning to start something” to help a lot of people, hinting at a new “chapter of his life.”

Ganguly took to Twitter as he wrote, “Today, I intend to begin something that I believe will benefit a large number of people. I hope you will continue to support me as I embark on this new chapter of my life.”

The mysterious post sparked widespread speculation that BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, 49, is stepping down.
