Allote Peter, a citizen of Ghana, and Romance Joshua, a citizen of Nigeria, have been named as the suspects who were taken into custody. “Oscar Leone talked with the victim on WhatsApp for a few days after introducing himself as a doctor from the USA. They then became friends, and the accused informed her that he was sending her a package containing gold jewellery, technological devices, and some cash “the Police said.

Police stated “Later, a different individual contacted the complainant and identified himself as a customs agent from Delhi International Airport and demanded that she pay the customs duty for the presents that Oscar Leon had given her. The plaintiff was charged a total of Rs 2.2 lakhs for different fees.”

The culprit was apprehended by the Cyber Crime police when they discovered them in Delhi throughout the course of the inquiry. They admitted after questioning that they traveled to Delhi on student visas, made false accounts on Facebook and Instagram using images of white individuals, and issued follow requests to women.

Later, the accused started having conversations using cellphone numbers that started with “+1” and “+44,” giving the victims the impression that they were speaking with foreigners.
